Playground equipment plays a vital role in recess time at schools. Students in elementary schools usually spend 20 to 30 minutes at recess per day. During this time, they are allowed to get outside, relax, and take a break from learning. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), outdoor play is crucial for a child’s development. Playground equipment encourages social interactions, allows children to take appropriate risks, and helps their overall health. Playground equipment can be used in schools, public spaces, and parks.
At Today’s Classroom, we understand the importance of outdoor time and the role it plays in the development of children. We offer a wide variety of playground and park equipment to serve the community and students in your school. Choose from the climbing equipment to swings that get everyone up & moving!

Playground Planning & Equipment Selection
Playground equipment comes in all shapes and sizes. Before purchasing for your space, you should consider:
- Schools vs. Community Space - For community/park areas, benches and picnic tables are a popular choice as they give families a place to sit and enjoy the park area. Equipment such as swings, riding toys, sand & water play, and climbing equipment are all great options for parks as they allow many children are able to use them at once. Schools benefit from having playground sets that take up minimal space while still having many activities for children to do, such as climbing and going down slides.
- Age - The age of the children is important, as some outdoor equipment and school playgrounds can be dangerous for younger children. Older children can climb large apparatuses without assistance, while younger children cannot. For this reason, an assortment of equipment is best to ensure there are items for all ages.
