Q1: What is the difference between a podium and a lectern in a school?  

A podium is technically a raised platform the speaker stands on. A lectern is the reading stand the speaker stands behind. In school use, both terms refer to the same freestanding unit with a sloped top and storage. Both describe the same furniture category on this page. 

Q2: What types of teacher podiums are available for K-12 classrooms? 

The main types are mobile lecterns that roll between rooms, fixed-height podiums for dedicated teaching stations, adjustable-height models for sit-to-stand use, tabletop units that mount on existing furniture, and podiums with built-in sound.

Q4: Can teacher podiums be adjusted for sitting and standing teachers?  

Yes. Pneumatic and manual adjustable-height podiums from CEF, Marco, and KI cover height ranges from 29 to 46 inches. These models adjust without tools during a class and support teachers who alternate between seated and standing instruction. Confirm the height range on individual product listings.
