Augmented Reality AR Sandbox - Diversified ARS-4030
Add a versatile and tactile learning experience to your classroom! Designed to easily create live 3D topography models with sand. This AR sandbox includes everything you need to get started: the mobile sandbox, Linux laptop computer, projector, 3D Xbox Kinect camera, 3D visualization software, and a stand to hold the electronics and manage cables that conveniently mounts to the sandbox and features a laptop shelf. The laptop shelf collapses when not in use for space-saving storage. AR software developed by UC-Davis works in conjunction with the 3D camera and Linux laptop to demonstrate geographic, geologic, and hydro-logic concepts. The real-time elevation color map produces topographic contour lines and simulated water and lava for a realistic experience. This unit can be used for higher education purposes aforementioned as well as a sensory experience for younger students and those receiving special education services. The mobile sandbox itself holds 250 lbs. of play sand (sold separately), and is constructed of solid hardwood and plywood with a chemical-resistant and earth-friendly UV finish. Four heavy-duty locking casters for easy maneuverability. Sand sold separately.
*The Augmented Reality Sandbox was developed by the UC Davis W.M. Keck Center for Active Visualization in the Earth Sciences (KeckCAVES), supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DRL 1114663.*
