Califone Upgrades PresentationPro Speaker

Updates allow educators to fully utilize classroom technology

Califone International, Inc., a leader in the design, development and manufacturing of audiovisual (AV) and supplemental curriculum products for use in education, announces updates to its wired PresentationPro speaker.

Each upgrade enhances easier and more accessible use of the PA310, beginning with connecting external audio sources. An additional 3.5mm input has been added to its dual RCA ports. This way, audio that is either stored on or streamed from smartphones and other devices can be easily played through the PresentationPro with a readily available 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable. Its redesigned remote for controlling the volume can now also power the speaker on/off. The remote has a 20’ range and magnetically attaches to the speaker’s top when not in use, another industry first. The speaker no longer requires hardware to use it on a tripod (for enhanced projection) thanks to its new recessed tripod hole.

The PresentationPro is the most widely installed speaker in United States schools and readily connects with computers, LCD projectors, mobile devices, interactive whiteboards and other audio sources. It is backed by a 6-year “bumper-to-bumper” warranty.

“Our goal is to provide high quality classroom equipment with practical applications,” said Tim Ridgway, vice president of marketing for Califone. “These updates enable classroom teachers and school speakers to employ videos, podcasts and other audio-visual assets to deliver rich educational content for Common Core-related activities. Reliable speakers are essential for schools to take full advantage of these powerful classroom tools.”

The mounting bracket (sold separately) for the PresentationPro has been redesigned with installers in mind, It offers greater flexibility in being able to vertically and horizontally adjust the speaker to target the sound field at the audience. This minimizes the creation of excessive ambient noise from sound reflecting off of walls and windows.

The PresentationPro has 30-watts RMS of power, enough to amplify sound to an audience of up to 350 people. Some school districts such as Lake Washington, take advantage of its power to save money and choose to install a single speaker in each classroom instead of multiple units. The 10oz magnet used to power the PA310 is the largest in its speaker class – meaning it needn’t work as hard to produce sound compared to rival speakers using smaller magnets.
